What should I wear for a Salt Therapy session?

Your normal clothes are fine - you will be relaxing on one of our super comfy loungers with a fluffy blanket to hand in case you get cold. Because there is salt in the air, it is inevitable that you will find salt particles but they can be brushed off once you are finished. However, if you are going somewhere special afterwards, maybe take a change of clothes just in case (the Salt will not harm your clothes though). If you are coming to Salt Therapy because of a skin condition then where possible and appropriate you may want to wear clothes that expose the skin i.e. shorts and t-shirt/vest(being mindful that you may be sharing the room with others).

Shoes are allowed inside and we provide protective covering for the shoes which must be worn to protect the anti-bacterial properties of the room.

*Whilst bare feet are normally encouraged in the Salt rooms for medicinal purposes it is not appropriate during the COVID-19 pandemic.

How many sessions do I need?

It very much depends on the condition that you have and the severity of your symptoms. For long standing or debilitating conditions we advise having at least 1 session a week (2 or more if possible to expatiate healing) for the first 4/6 weeks. This is to allow the Salt to really target the condition and start to break down the problems e.g. if you have a chesty cough or your sinus’ are very bunged up then regular sessions will get straight to that phlegm and start to break it down/loosen it so that you can either cough it up or clear your nose. Once you have a few regular sessions completed, you may find that once a fortnight or a month might just keep those pesky symptoms at bay, or you may need more - it varies between individuals. Please note it is fine to attend Salt Therapy (and often enhances) whilst on antibiotics. Below outlines recommended session guidelines for particular conditions in order to significantly reduce symptoms and improve quality of life.

Bronchial Asthma: 4 sessions a week for 5 weeks in total. 1-2 treatments a year. (4 sessions a week is 1 treatment).

COPD: 4 sessions a week for 5 weeks in total. 2-4 treatments a year. (4 sessions a week is 1 treatment) although as a chronic condition, clients should be attending consistently throughout the year.

Cystic Fibrosis: 4 sessions a week for 5 weeks in total. 5-7 treatments a year (4 sessions a week is 1 treatment) although as a chronic condition, clients should be attending consistently throughout the year.

Seasonal Allergies: 3-5 sessions per week for 4 weeks. Ideally before Hayfever season starts.

Colds: 3 sessions a week for 2 weeks or until disappearance of acute symptoms.

Sinusitis: 3 sessions a week for 2 weeks or until disappearance of acute symptoms.

Laryngitis: 3 sessions a week for 2 weeks or until disappearance of acute symptoms.

Psoriasis: 7-15 sessions within 3 weeks (such aggressive treatment can keep symptoms at bay between 6-12 months with a complimentary diet for auto-immune disease). Talk to our staff at your 1st appointment about how we can implement sole (so-lay)water into your treatment plan to help expedite results.
